JEREMY DENNIS

Jeremy Dennis (b. 1990) is a contemporary fine art photographer and a tribal member of the Shinnecock Indian Nation in Southampton, NY. In his work, he explores indigenous identity, culture, and assimilation. Dennis was one of 10 recipients of a 2016 Dreamstarter Grant from the national non-profit organization Running Strong for American Indian Youth.

DERRICK EVANS

Derrick Christopher Evans is the director of Turkey Creek Community Initiatives and a managing advisor to the Gulf Coast Fund for Community Renewal and Ecological Health. Since 2001 he has worked to help protect and revitalize his coastal Mississippi community and sister communities throughout the region. Prior to that he taught civil rights history at Boston College and social studies in the Boston Public Schools.

EMMANUEL MERVIL

Dubbed Boston’s new Food Phantom, Emmanuel Mervil is a life-long Cambridge resident, former Algebra Project math literacy worker, and founder of Everybody Gotta Eat, an organization that provides a platform and outlet for emerging, independent chefs.

Led by Deondre Starling, a Cambridge native, former Rindge basketball star, and rising entrepreneur, Scholars Before Athletes is dedicated to creating the programs and pathways young athletes need to pursue both athletic and academic excellence. Through annual givebacks, scholarships, workshops, and tournaments, Scholars Before Athletes uses our shared love of the game to support and showcase the next generation of talent.
